Ms. Daisy Deckmyn is a true gem of a tutor. She has excellent communication skills for explaining chemistry concepts at both the high school introductory and AP level classes in a straightforward and easy to understand way. My high schooler really benefited from having semi regular weekly sessions with Ms. Deckmyn when he had to miss class for a school related travel activities, and having tutoring was essential to understand missed class time and really help with knowledge gaps prior to the AP exams. Daisy also has her own video library, concept related reading, and practice tests or most of the time they would just work off of my high schooler's text book problem sets. After I barely survived the first semester of high school chemistry, I wondered how long I could manage the rest of the year. When I looked through the upcoming syllabus, full of concepts like molarity, equilibrium, and kinetics, I girded myself for a few months's worth of hard studying every night. My son just finished his sophomore year at Damien high school. He was in Honors Chemistry, and was really struggling to maintain his grade. He did not seem to understand the subject in the way that the teacher explained it, and became very frustrated and unmotivated.
He asked me if we could hire a tutor and got Daisy's name from one of his friends in the same class who worked with her in bringing up his Honors Chem grade.
When he contacted Daisy, she was extremely responsive, fit him into him into her schedule right away, and he came away from his first tutoring session feeling much more confident. He says she was very good at explaining things in a way he could understand.
He continued to tutor with her, and his confidence and skill level improved tremendously. He ended up bringing his grade from an F to a B within two months, and finished the school year with a weighted 4.0.

Daisy was amazing. I but for the Grace if God found her on FB on the Rancho site. My junior daughter was failing chemistry at Los Osos. My daughter kept blaming the teacher and I told her she had a part in it. Daisy was familiar with Oso's curriculum, chemistry assignments, teaching style of the Osos chemistry teacher. I have a BSN in Nursing and I couldn't grasp it to help my daughter. My daughter loved her, made an effort and she passed with a B minus from an F- late in the semester. She wants to go to nursing school and these high school science grades make a difference in the competitive nursing school entrance. If I recall correctly, Daisy has a degree in biochemistry. Her rates were perfect. My daughter and her texted each other and arranged their times. I stayed out of it. She was a great role model for my daughter to see: a smart, educated woman.
